Introduction | American transplanted to Bergen, Norway in 1977. Wife to Jan, Mother to Stian and Jan Petter, artist (painter)- to myself. After starting/stopping/starting on my art, I resumed art school in Bergen in 1995 for 2 more years, plus one year of private study with a professional Bergen artist, Jan Erik Willgohs. I have had my own studio since 1999 and work in acrylics, pastels, charcoal, collage, mixed media on canvas/wood panels & paper. Looking to be ever more attentive to what I can say that no one else can, and to try to deliver a piece of myself in a visual way. It is a constant struggle to rediscover myself every time I start a new canvas, but I am on a path-road-highway and it sure is exciting to see what each new day brings. For every attempt to reveal an exciting insight, I am treated to a roller coaster ride, that, sooner or later, I win. I don't give up until I do. Creative Visionary Program, 2021.... |
Interests | Love for cooking, reading, traveling, kayakking, nature hikes and, of course ART of all kinds. Theater, concerts (no opera, please) and seeing live and in person the famous paintings that I used to see only in books. This year I have travelled to Amsterdam to 'visit' Van Gogh. Plan to fly to Helsinki to 'visit' Helene Scherfbeck on the 150th anniversary of her birth. Since this was first written, I have travelled extensively, taken and intensive program in painting (Creative Visionary Program, by Nicholas Wilton), moved to a larger studio and experimented extensively with new techniques and tools. Have made serious progress in self assurance and artistic direction. |
Favorite Movies | I Don't watch much TV; documentaries, either people, travel, or art. I watch if it makes me laugh or cry, but no brutality, violence or horror. I would much rather read, paint, take a hike, go to a movie or have lunch with my friends. |
Favorite Music | Right now it's John Mayer, Blues, modern classical, and inspirational. |
Favorite Books | I'd Rather Be In The Studio/ A New Earth/9th Street Women, A Gentleman in Moscow, The Red Notebook, The Four Agreements, The Uncommon Reader.... |
