About me

Occupation Writer
Location Matthews, NC, United States
Introduction I grew up in Southwest Florida in the days before air conditioning. I well remember sweltering nights when we had to keep the windows closed to keep the skeeters and sandflies out. My childhood summers were spent outside because in those days kids were neither seen nor heard except at mealtimes. My friends and I especially enjoyed playing on the burial vaults stored in the yard of the funeral home next door. On rainy days we played on my grandmother's screened porch. I wrote porch plays and we all performed them--not well, but with a lot of enthusiasm. Writing was my favorite class all through school and, even after I dropped out of college to get married and raise a family, I wrote whenever I could find a spare moment. My early scribblings gave way to more polished work and eventually I had a number of short stories and essays published in magazines. I now write novels, mostly mysteries. I am also an avid reader. I will read anything, from cereal boxes to billboards, but I much prefer mystery novels. I especially like mysteries involving horses and amateur sleuths. I occasionally enter writing contests.
Interests Writing, reading, travel, dogs, family activities
Favorite Books Talented Horsewoman and Jobless Recovery--I'm not afraid to admit I'm a shameless self-promoter.
