| Introduction | Huh, update to below. I'm 40 and still employed. I'm again estranged from my daughter, and my son is soon heading off to college. Huh, update to below. I'm 35, everything I wrote 5 years ago still applies, except that I'm employed. Maddeningly, interestingly, and well, so I can't complain. Oh, and my oldest just moved out after four years of acting out. I'm still a mom, but sucking at it. **I'm newly 31 - by the time I was 30 I had: one tattoo, one marriage, one divorce, two kids, lived in 4 states, a B.A., an M.P.P., a tubal ligation, always more debt than income, started and quit smoking - regularly, waited tables, tended bar, taught preschool, merchandised greeting cards, led girl scouts, and now... I'm an over-volunteered, over-credentialed unemployed divorced mama who sequenced her Gen-X life backwards; kids and marriage first, career later. |
