| Introduction | I'm a 27 year old stay at home mom. I have been married to my best friend "B" for 6 years. I was diagnosed with PNH (a rare bone marrow failure disease)in 2004. In 2006 I delivered my son "Z" after only a 28 week pregnancy. He was born via general anesthesia c-section and weighed 2lbs 14 oz, he stayed in the NICU for 2 months. Because of his prematurity he had a grade 3 intraventricular hemorhage w(brain bleed) with subsequent periventricular leukomalacia (small parts of the brain die) My son is now 2 1/2 and he has cerebral palsy. He cannot hold a bottle, sit up, crawl or walk. He is very smart, and his vocabulary is great. He amazes me daily and In October of 2007 I underwent a peripheral blood stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor. I transplant is the only known cure for PNH. I am currently 1 year post transplant and now off of all my meds and have had no side effects, I am doing amazing. Other's have not been so lucky and so I cherish every single day. I am honest and caring and would do anything for my friends and family. |
