Introduction Shane grew up in a working-class household in Alton, Illinois. His father (OCAW) worked in an oil refinery, and his mother was the town seamstress. After high school, and service in the Marine Corps as an intelligence scout, he graduated from the University of Houston, with the support and assistance of his wife and three children, GI Bill benefits, delivering newspapers, and other odd jobs. He was a TV and radio reporter and talk show host and producer in Houston, TX, before launching a career as an actor and writer. While in Houston he was on the board of directors of the United Nations Association and helped found the Houston Chapter of The Gulf Coast Council on Foreign Affairs and was Regional Coordinator of the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions programs. He has traveled extensively in the Middle East, Europe and Southeast Asia. Shane serves on the Executive Board of the Alliance for Retired Americans,and on the Executive Board of the Texas AFL/CIO, as President of the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, and was a Delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging.
Interests Hobbies: Genealogy, gardening, & reading. Activities: Walking, fencing, hanging with the dogs.
