| Introduction | Recently both my sister-in-law (Sandy) and my mom (Joan) were diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a very emotional month for me knowing the hard road ahead each of them will endure. I tried to think of ways to help them. I live four hours from them so daily or even weekly visits are not an option. I decided one way I can make a difference is to support a Breast Cancer research foundation in hopes that one day soon there will be a cure or better yet 100% prevention. The Avon Foundation has helped more than 1,000,000 women in the U.S. receive a mammogram. More than two-thirds of these women were uninsured, and more than half were from minority populations. Today (August 2nd)I decided to participate in the Breast Cancer Fundraiser walk in Washington DC in 2011. Follow along as I prepare for the walk. Posts will include information about training, fundraising and general musings on life. |
