| Introduction | Good day! My name is Dave Peterson. This blog is devoted to describing and understanding the art and science of readiness-based sparing. A lifelong love of aviation led me to a 20-year career as a U.S. Air Force supply officer and logistics educator, with experience in base- and depot-level supply and maintenance management, graduate-level logistics education, and readiness-based sparing requirements computation and policy analysis at the senior staff level. After my Air Force service, I was an associate professor in the School of Business and Economics at Lynchburg College, Virginia, teaching courses in statistics, and production and operations management. For the past decade, I have specialized in readiness-based sparing inventory modeling and its application to Department of Defense logistics support, consulting with government, and aerospace and defense clients on supply chain and operational analytics projects.
