Introduction I was born in Vina del Mar on the coast of Chile. Grew up in the capital, Santiago, and attended the University of Chile, where I studied Physical Education and Physical Therapy. I came to US more than 35 years ago, married an American/Canadian in Houston, Texas, and moved to North Bend, on the Southern Oregon coast. My husband and I own the "Electric Hospital", a sewing machine and vacuum store. We carry long arm quilters, notions, teach classes and believe strongly in community service and giving back. We have 3 wonderful children and 5 awesome young grandchildren. Our three children are accomplished musicians, college graduates and hard workers. My interest in the arts, painting, sewing, knitting, began in my childhood. I don't remember a time when I did not feel deeply the call to create, to paint, to sew, to knit. I am surrounded by a wonderful family, a church that I love and a circle of friends, real, virtual and across the globe, that I treasure. I am a very lucky woman.
Interests I am an artist at heart. My husband and I own a store in Coos Bay, Oregon, the "Electric Hospital" and, "Maria T.", which allows me the opportunity to explore my creative side through designing and elegant embroidery for weddings and special occasions. I teach fiber arts, thread painting, quilting. I have been knitting since age 5 and now have ventured into the world of weaving and spinning. Knitting is a passion and a form of relaxation. I paint with watercolors and oils, am a calligrapher, sing in a contemporary choir and play guitar.
Favorite Movies Casablanca, The Sound of Music, The American President, An Affair to Remember, The Longest Day, Charlotte's Web, Little Women and so many more....If the movie is not too scary, too gory, too sad, too dark, to violent, has a lot of romance and a good, happy ending, chances are I have seen it!
Favorite Music Classical music of many kinds, opera arias, most country music, Chilean folk and Andean music. No rap...
Favorite Books Under the Tuscan Sun, writings by Isabel Allende, romantic novels...Art books, especially by my favorite illustrator, Tasha Tudor.
