Twan Leenders

About me

Introduction Twan Leenders is Connecticut Audubon Society’s Conservation Biologist and Editor-in-Chief of the Connecticut State of the Birds report. He was born and raised in The Netherlands where he completed his doctoral degree in Biology, specializing in Animal Ecology. Since the early 1990s, Twan has worked (and lived) in various countries in Central American and Tropical Africa to study amphibians and reptiles, primarily focusing on the precipitous decline in amphibian populations worldwide. After moving to the USA in 2001, Twan has been working in the Department of Vertebrate Zoology of Yale University’s Peabody Museum of Natural History (where he is still a Curatorial Affiliate)and he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology of Sacred Heart University. Twan joined the Connecticut Audubon Society in June of 2008.
