About me

Introduction I remember when a bike ride to the pier was the highlight of my day, and the Bingo game at the end of our week at the beach was awaited with holiday-like anticipation. I remember an age when the toy in the Happy Meal made everything taste better. I remember a time when our maroon van hummed with excitement en route to K. B. Toys. I remember an era when a trip to “The Penny Candy Store” was like hitting the jackpot; a one-cent tootsie roll was a treat to be savored and my little paper goodie bag was a treasure worth guarding dearly. I hope I never lose that ability to be easily enchanted or truly thrilled. Whether my delight is inspired by a perdurable piece of penny candy found amidst the lint in my pocket, or the discovery of a fabulous new print to line a clutch, I hope I will always remember to appreciate those beautiful little surprises. So I leave you with this quote, which perfectly expresses the penny candy state of mind: “Life has loveliness to sell, All beautiful and splendid things; Blue waves whitened on a cliff, Soaring fire that sways and sings, And children’s faces looking up, Holding wonder like a cup.” - Sarah Teasdale
