As the founding Director of the Center for Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD), Befekadu has played a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of the Center which became a prominent human rights group. Before founding CARD, he gained valuable experience as an independent writer and activist, contributing to various local print media outlets and co-founding the renowned Zone 9 Blogging and Activism Collective. Befekadu's unwavering dedication to his cause has led him to face significant challenges, including multiple unjust prosecutions and imprisonment.
