About me

Location San Francisco, California
Introduction Lisa Berkelhammer, L.Ac., Dipl., Ac., (NCCAOM) has practiced Traditional Asian Medicine in San Francisco since 1986, specializing in acupuncture, herbal medicine and therapeutic nutrition. Lisa graduated from the San Francisco College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 1985, passed the California State Acupuncture Board exam in 1986, and the NCCAOM exam in 1987. Lisa participated in the development of the NCCAOM exam, and served as examiner for ten years. Lisa's early TCM practice was at the Min An Health Center in San Francisco, under the direction of Sadja Greenwood, M.D. Min An was one of the first integrated medicine practices in Northern California, where patients were treated by a team of western M.D.'s and TCM practitioners, all of them female. Lisa was a founding member and assistant leader of the Makor Or Jewish Meditation Center at Congregation Beth Sholom S.F. under the direction of Rabbi Alan J. Lew (z'l) and Zoketsu Norman Fischer. Lisa owes her love and fascination with science, biology and the miracles of the universe to her veterinarian father, Albert M. Berkelhammer, V.M.D., and her musician mother, Eileen Sperber Berkelhammer. (Zichronam l'bracha).
