| Introduction | I love how I feel when I’m working with fabrics – I experience so much excitement, I can hardly stay focused on one creation – often I don’t and find myself working on more than one at a time. It may take me longer to finish, but I’m happier when I am working with the original idea that inspired me. In my current work, I choose my materials for how they feel and the mood they help me express – childlike, provocative or even obscure. I very often start my work in the middle and work out – I like starting an idea and then working to amplify it. I deal with the challenge of keeping the original mood so as to not lose it to new ideas, as I add texture and depth to the piece. I give each individual element in my work my undivided attention to make sure it expresses what I need it to express as the piece grows. It’s my “Thimble Therapy.” |
