| Introduction | I'm a professional musician now, though in a former life I was Managing Director of a multi-million-pound business. These two different careers have given me the opportunity to consider big questions from very different starting points. The viewpoint of the artist suits me better, with its built-in acceptance of unanswerable questions and the pursuit of excellence and beauty for their own sakes. I believe there are no easy answers to anything. All attempts to close down discussion with definitive answers will inevitably miss something. Every time I perform as a musician, the interpretation is different from the time before. Each subsequent interpretation brings a new thought - not better or worse, merely different. My blogs are presented in the same spirit - my best attempt at understanding for today, but inevitably missing what I shall consider tomorrow. |
