Introduction Hi. The point of this blog is to share my thoughts on the wines I drink at home. They are mostly purchased from my local supermarkets in South London, but I also buy wine from other popular merchants such as The Wine Society and Majestic, among others. I am not a professional wine writer and I pay for all the wines myself (except gifts from friends or family). As a result of this, I buy the types of wines that I want to drink, and I place a particular emphasis on value for money. I think, especially with wine, that value is something that can be elusive. As a indication of what I consider good value, I don't think you need to spend much more than £6 a bottle for something good if you take advantage of special offers in the stores. Increasing your upper limit to £8 - £10 can provide even more great bargains. I believe that over £10 the value-for-money curve starts levelling off. I'm not saying that they are rip-offs or not woth the money, but at that point it becomes more about what you are willing to pay then about value. So, happy reading, and please do leave comments, your contact details, etc. Being a wine geek, I can chat endlessly about wine with anyone! Tim
