Occupation Minister, Editor

Introduction I was born in 1960 in the north of England. I was raised on remote islands in the Central Pacific, where my father was a missionary with the London Missionary Society. I attended school in South Africa. I pursued theological studies in South Africa (BISA) and Switzerland (STH), and obtained Master's degrees in South Africa (SATS) and in the USA (Fuller). I was ordained in 1983. I ministered for 10 years in a suburban Church in Port Elizabeth, more than 20 years in an urban Church in Cape Town, and am now a consulent minister serving the Karoo. Until recently I was the world’s most published electronics writer-designer. I am a member of the board of The Philosopher, and an editor of Philosophical Investigations. I was married to Mirjam, a Swiss citizen, an ordained minister and a Doctor of Philosophy. Sadly, she died in early 2011. I am now married to Ester (see the profile photo), who is predominantly Xhosa, an au pair, and is nearing completion of a degree in theology (SATS). I have a 29-year-old son, Matthew, who is completing a doctorate in palaeo-biology (UCT).
