Introduction Barbara Celis is a freelance reporter and a documentary filmmaker, madrileña con alma de neoyorquina y adn italiano. Maybe one day she will also be a rock star but she's still learning how to play guitar. She specializes in arts and culture but having worked as a New York correspondent for EL PAIS and other media for over 13 years she has written extensively about the US, from politics to breaking news, from S11 to Hurricane Katrina or OWS. She moved to London in 2013 where she was a regular contributor to EL PAIS, El Confidencial, CTXT, Jot Down & El Estado Mental. She moved to Taipei (Taiwán) in June 2016. Over the years she wrote for LA Weekly, Cinemania, Vogue, Rolling Stone, GQ, Ars Magazine, and La Repubblica, among others. She is also the director of the documentary Surviving Amina (2010). Barbara Celis was awarded the SIP-IAPA Excellence in Journalism Award 2015 (opinion category), Premio Ciudad de Alcalá de Periodismo 2014, IX Premio de Periodismo Ciudad de Badajoz in 2012, V Premio Paco Rabal de Periodismo Cultural in 2011, (Cultural Journalism Award in Spain) and a 2009 USC Annenberg/Getty Arts Journalism Fellowship.
