Introduction With aging supposedly comes more fixed views, habits and behaviours. Is this true? Can you consciously ‘shake up’ your life in middle age and make lasting changes rather than become more entrenched? In a year, I made life changes that persisted: I became a cyclist, a published writer, made new friends, downsized my car and travelled to new places. Lasting change is possible. I want more so I intend to challenge the boundries in as many ways as possible for a year. This could involve trying something I don’t think I like....and verifying that or surprising myself. Or breaking a habit. Or clearing out accumulated ‘stuff’.... This is not about major 'sea change' changes. It is about breaking a lifetime of accumulated habits and testing if a series of small changes can add up to an overall improved life. As a psychologist, I have worked for many years with people and organisations going through change. This blog will combine my knowledge and experience of change with my own real life changes.
