Introduction Philip Lee Williams is the author of 17 published books, including, most recently, Emerson's Brother, The Divine Comics: A Vaudeville Show in Three Acts and The Flower Seeker: An Epic Poem of William Bartram. That book was named Book of the Year by national U.S. journal Books & Culture. Before that, his most recent books were Elegies for the Water, a volume of poems and The Campfire Boys, a novel. An earlier novel, A Distant Flame, won the 2004 Michael Shaara Award as the best book of Civil War fiction published in the United States in 2004. He lives near Athens, Georgia.
