| Introduction | I am a pediatrician, now retired from a clinical practice that focused on deaf and hard of hearing children and families. My current efforts are toward understanding the cultural and bio-political causes and effects of language deprivation in deaf babies and children. My hope is that with this knowledge, we can begin to reverse the trend of deprivation and damage that is epidemic in this population. |
