Introduction	My current efforts are aimed at understanding fundamental biology of the bacterial peptidoglycan layer and to translate these findings to develop inhibitor of biosynthesis of this vital bacterial 'organelle'. I have established a scientific program titled 'Taskforce to study Resistance Emergence & Antimicrobial development Technology' (TREAT) that comprises of multiple labs around the world. Our aim is to understand the genetic and biochemical basis of resistance to B-lactam drugs and to develop more potent drugs of this class.
