Introduction	I started my career in jewellery design and manufacture. This was the best place to start, as there are few disciplines that teach design development, conceptualisation and the ability to produce the design from start to finish. Goldsmithing techniques can also be applied to other fields, the tools and principles lend themselves to the manufacture of pretty much anything. I have made specialised parts for motorcycles, crossbows, prototype rockets, yachts and furniture. It is this ability that I will be forever grateful. I enjoy the challenge of designing and making a variety of things, but it is guitar making and repairs that has become my focus.
