Introduction I started on my fitness journey from fluffy to fit in 2003. Over the past 18 or so years, my weight had creeped up ever so slightly that I decided it was finally time to shed this spare tire forever. Since I was nearing menopause and heart disease, high cholesterol and high blood pressure all run in my family, I was determined to avoid these health risks if at all possible. Therefore, I embarked on what I like to call my fitness journey from fluffy to fit. I lost approximately 25 pounds in five months, going from a size 10/12 to a size 4. I was thrilled, I had not been this size since before I was married. I achieved this weight loss the old fashioned way. I did not fall into the trap of fad diets, but rather I looked at this as a lifestyle change. I eliminated the junk from my diet and concentrated on eating good nutritionally balanced foods. Additionally, I included regular daily exercise (cardio as well as strength training). I am proud to say that eight years later, I am still maintaining my weight loss and fit lifestyle. It really is true slow and steady is the way to go.
