| Introduction | has performed almost every job there is to do in the theatre onstage, backstage, and in front of the house. His New York directing credits include Shakespere's "Othello," Gilbert & Sullivan's "Patience," and Jacques Offenbach's "Orpheus in the Underworld." He has stage managed for the New York Musical Theatre Festival production of "The Night of the Hunter," the Bronx Opera, the Center for Contemporary Opera, Colorado's Central City Opera, and for nine production with Sarah Caldwell's Opera Company of Boston. He was the production assistant for John Guare's "Bosoms and Neglect," starring Anne Meara (New York Theatre Workshop) and for August Strindberg's "The Father," staring Frank Langella (Roundabout Theatre Company). Mr. Cohen began his career as an actor and has performed such diverse roles as John Proctor in "The Crucible," Harry Beaton in "Brigadoon" and Harold in "The Boys in the Band." He also lectures regularly on the history of the American Musical and the Off-Broadway theatre movement for the Explore New York! elderhostle program. |
