Introduction As a child, my grandmother and aunt taught me to crochet. I was fascinated by how quickly their hands moved as their intricate stitch designs magically turned into beautiful doilies -- all without a written pattern! Unfortunately, I did not appreciate the value of the craft they were teaching me because I was so young and quickly lost interest. After I married, I thought I'd give crocheting a go again and bought a crochet how-to book to refresh my memory. I made a few doilies but once again put crocheting aside as raising a family and career became the focus of my life. Now that I'm retired and my children are on their own, I now have the luxury of spare time! Crocheting has become my passion and I often have 2-3 projects going at once with another 10 ideas of future projects. I sometimes think back to the times I watched Grandma and Aunt Glenda crocheting and wish I could tell them "thank you" for planting that creative seed some 50 years ago!
