| Introduction | As a child I had many artistic influences. My Abuelita did everything! She painted her couch with bright birds and flowers. Made huge cacti from beer boxes and colorful toothpicks. Carved animal shapes out of wooden stumps and added wheels for handy stools. She even did the most beautiful embroidery on flour sacks. She inspired her eldest daughter, my aunt, to paint murals. My Godmother showed me everything beautiful in nature by taking me on numerous walks through the foothills. We collected flowers to press and rocks to make jewelry out of. She also did beautiful paintings. My mother has sewn for my sister and I all of our lives, because of her, we had something new and custom made every free dress (we normally wore uniforms, with the exception of free dress on the last Friday of each month). All of these wonderful women inspired my sister of 'Rain's Embellishments' to make the most distinguished and remarkable jewelry who in turn inspired me to make paper goods.
