Introduction I have been painting since the fall of 2008. Before that, I had only highschool art where I learned contour drawing. I am striving toward developing skill in impressionist realism, along the lines of John Singer Sargeant. My first introduction to impressionistic art was while living in Russia. I had been to many museums in Europe and in Russia and I enjoyed it but when I went to the Russian Museum in Moscow, it was there that I fell in love with Russian art and impressionism. In 2008 I took a class with artist Melanie Ponchot. I never dreamed that I would be capable of doing anything but stick figures. Thanks to Melanie, I found I could not only paint a still life but also do portraits. I am crazy about portraits and figures, but have enjoyed plein air landscape painting a lot since 2019. Getting outside and being able to communicate in a painting what I see, is a real thrill. When the pandemic started, I started taking classes via zoom. This has given me exposure to things outside of Atlanta. I am doing figures and pets, as well as flowers. I love showing color and light. Now that I have the time, I am pursuing art and selling what I can.
