Introduction From photojournalist to Army officer to nightclub manager to writer, Brian Dear has lived globalization as much as he has written about it. As a former Reuters photojournalist, Brian's photos have been published in most major magazines and newspapers across the globe. Brian is a former writer-in-residence at the famed Shakespeare and Company bookshop in Paris, France. Brian has worked as a screenwriter, short story writer, novelist and journalist. Now he attempts with words what he used to capture with cameras. Originally from Houston, Texas, currently he lives in Seoul, Korea where he teaches and writes about global security, economics and politics.
Interests East Asian Security and Economics, globalization politics, journalism, creative fiction, music and video production, the expansion of self-determination in emerging societies.

ATB, Van Buren and most of the cool trancy house music. I play guitar. I also love U2, a minor band with a few pockets of fans, but you might have heard them in a club once. Favorite Books Book of Honor, T.C. Boyle, F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Alchemist, Angels & Demons. Hemingway, Tim Leary, Hunter S. Thompson and the Da Vinci Code. Henry Miller, The Paris Review. James Joyce can be best used for kindling. Faulkner takes five pages to say what Hemingway says in a sentence.
