Introduction I was born and raised in Saint John New Brunswick, moved to Victoria BC in 1993 and finally to Vancouver in 1998. During my early years I experienced the world as a scary place. My Mother and Father had a troubled marriage, so much so that violence would manifest itself both physically and verbally. My Father would take his anger out on me from time to time. I was also initiated into sexual activity by a neighbor when I was quite young. Death and illness were also a part of my early youth because my Father had heart trouble and had several heart attacks, the last one killing him. My Grandmother moved in with us and she also became ill. Most of the time she lived with us, she was a semi-invalid. By this time, I knew I loved sex, ( I was thirteen), and to balance the fear I would go looking for sex in public. I would inevitably find it, although it became more available by the time I was sixteen. I was trapped in a place of fear and shame. I stayed in the closet until after my Mother died in 1993.
