| Introduction | I'm in my 30s and live in in England. I'm a single professional. I have chronic pain in all segments of my back. I've spent years fighting the pain, trying to beat it. I've learned that there is no beating it, no fighting it. I can only manage it, although nobody can tell me exactly what's happening to my body or why. Apparently, despite how common it is, chronic pain just isn't 'cool' enough for the medical profession to take it seriously. I'm still coming to terms with the permanence of the condition. Sadly, circumstances are such that I can't manage the pain effectively so I'm fumbling through as best I can right now, with flare ups being an almost daily occurrence. The pain itself is a challenge and the consequences of it are too. I can't imagine that I'm the only young(ish) person out there in this situation. Writing helps to work through and release my pent up feelings. Maybe it could help someone else too. Who knows! |
