Melanie is an artist living in the Tri-Cities, a metropolitan area in southeastern Washington State.
Known for it's wine, sunny weather and sagebrush, the arid eastern side of Washington is Melanie's primary artistic inspiration.
Landscapes haven't always been her passion. For most of her artistic career she has specialized in capturing faces and figures in pencil, charcoal, and watercolor.
All that changed, however, after Melanie worked for three summers as a wildland firefighter. She had never been the outdoors type, but wanted a challenge. Watching fire behavior, digging in the dirt, hiking all day and sleeping under the stars in the rugged eastern Oregon desert gave her a new appreciation for the power and beauty of nature.
Since then Melanie has been passionately driven to capture the diverse landscape of the Pacific Northwest in all its majesty. She captures the beautiful in all scenes - from the lowly sagebrush to the high mountain peaks.
Her paintings are an escape from the everyday, into the intriguing and awe-inspiring wilderness.
