Introduction After twenty five years as a graphic designer, it was time to move on to something else. Some background. I grew up with family & friends that were DIY people. Especially my grandad, he grew up on a ranch. He built, rebuilt or fixed most everything on the ranch because that’s what was required to get projects done in a timely manner and it was affordable. Throughout his life he built houses, garages, workshops, boats and was a mechanic for new car dealerships for decades. I’ve been an artist my entire life. At 30 I started a graphic design firm in Tempe. I did that for more than twenty five years. I loved the business but a shift in customer attitudes eventually made that career unappealing. I stopped accepting new clients and just worked with existing clients for a couple of years. With more time available, friends/family were asking me to fix and/or update things in their homes. After a while it became clear that this could and should be the next work chapter. The commonality between graphic design and handyman work is problem solving. I like solving problems and I'm good at it. I’m creative, have a critical eye and very detail oriented. Good traits for both careers.
