Introduction | I grew up in a teensy town in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains, desperately wishing I didn't have to drive half an hour to go to the movies or bowling or shopping or anything. After high school, I fled to the bustling metropolis that is Williamsburg to complete my university-level studies. I left the College of William and Mary in 2000 with a BA in English, an MA Ed. in gifted education and an incomparable hatred of tourists, particularly in the swampy heat of August. After earning my master’s, I ended up in a slightly larger small town nestled, again, in the shadows of the Blue Ridge in Central Virginia. I quit my cushy middle school teaching job after two years, was a mortgage loan processor for just over a year before losing my mind to boredom, and finally landed a great job managing non-profit membership associations. I’ve also begun carving a niche for myself as a freelance proofreader and copyeditor at nights and on weekends. I live happily (hopefully ever after) with Husband and Dog, spending about 80% of my free time either on the internet or nose-first in a book. In addition to books, I love chocolate, wine, movies, games, and crying at the television. |
