IntroductionIn a previous life, I was a tall, bronzed,heavily-muscled, Nordic god of a man named "Sven". In my current incarnation I am satisfying my Karma by being none of those things.
InterestsRaising my daughter, reading, the web, writing, gardening, Dr. Who
Favorite moviesIn no particular order, and subject to revision as I think of more: Braveheart, Amadeus, all three LOTR, 2001, Men in Black, Dr. Strangelove, The Incredibles, Lilo and Stitch, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Haunting (the original one, not the recent piece-of-crap), The Exorcist, A Man for All Seasons, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, all of the Wallace and Gromit flicks, A Night at the Opera (greatest.comedy.ever), Bettlejuice, Dogma, Last of the Mohicans, Shrek (I, not II). The Mummy (again, I not II) Star Wars (the first two ONLY). Also quite fond of W.C. Fields, the Marx Brothers, and silent films: Chaplin, Griffith.. and anything that has Lillian Gish in it.
Favorite musicClassical, esp. J.S.Bach, Beethoven, Ralph Vaughn-Williams. Anything Celtic, either folk or rock.. esp. Clannad, Wolfstone, any recording of the works of Turlough O'Carolan, Loreena McKennitt. Ragtime. Classic Rock. Tori Amos. I also seem to have accumulated quite an unaccoutable number of movie soundtracks and am partial to Christmas tunes (the last being odd only because I don't especially like Christmas). Country I have been known to tolerate for the sake of friendship, though it makes me want to drive pencils into my ears. Rap is not music and so doesn't enter into the discussion
Favorite booksHells bells.. where to start? My house is full of books 1036 last time I counted). OK.. the first few off the top of my head: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Alice Through the Looking Glass, all three LOTR, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (all five books of the trilogy), To Kill a Mockingbird, Hamlet (we can include play's right?), Lear, Waiting for Godot, any of the 3 billions Dr. Who Continuing Adventures novels, all the of Sherlock Holmes stories, Inspector Morse, all the Stephanie Plum books (guilty pleasure). Scads of poems by Yeats and Dickinson. Anything by Poe. Starting to get into Dylan Thomas finally. Most of the Harry Potter series. Le Morte d"Arthur, Rime of the Ancient Mariner. The Tao de Ching.
