| Introduction | I am a 35 year old undergraduate student at Utah Valley University. Despite my age I sometimes feel like a new soul to life. I was born in San Antonio, Texas and moved to Germany at the age of four. I moved to Utah from Germany the second time in 2007 and have been here ever since. My mother has been painting my whole life. When I was young she was painting beautiful oil and acrylic paintings. When I was a teenager arthritis began to affect her hands and she turned to watercolors! I am discovering a love for watercolors. At first I liked them because I am impatient and you don't have to wait long for the layers to dry. I still like them for that reason, but the more I learn the more I see they are not easy and you have to get creative with your mistakes or start all over, which I find true to life. I find watercolor a medium that is open to all styles, from realism, impressionism, abstract, controlled or loose to all over the place! |
