Introduction Leeds Library & Information Service were awarded £1.4 million by the BIG Lottery Fund to develop an exciting new Library & One Stop Centre for Garforth. The old Library building has been extended and redesigned, allowing for the Library and One Stop Centre to be housed under one roof. The building reopened in February 2010. The new building features green technology such as solar panels to heat water, and a “living” sedum roof that is energy efficient and encourages wildlife. The building features a lift, ramp, downstairs meeting room and downstairs toilets for improved accessibility. Facilities for young people have been improved, and a new learning suite provides better IT facilities for the whole community and enables us to deliver new learning sessions. The new extension also features "Baraka Express", a not-for-profit cafe, in which customers can relax and enjoy a sandwich and coffee.
