Introduction Teaching and learning in the classroom goes both ways, teacher to student as well as student to teacher. Reflecting on my nearly 40 years in the high school classroom as a teacher of Visual Arts, and in the athletic arena as a coach, I started to realize how many lessons I had learned from my students without my even realizing it. Lessons of courage, acceptance, wisdom, humor, tenacity, humility, kindness, determination, human commonality, and more. As I share these lessons my students taught me, I invite you to share the lessons your students taught you. As teachers, we light the spark that starts the human engine on its journey. We are the instructional foundation of all that follows in making society work at every level and in every way. Our collective power for inspiring human good and developing human potential has no equal. Likewise, are the lessons our students taught us.
