| Introduction | I am a Bangalore-based Hindustani vocalist, for whom music has always been an integral part of life. I have been immersed in diverse musical traditions, having been trained in both the Hindustani and Carnatic styles for the past twenty years as well as in Western Classical violin. I am currently training under Smt. Aditi Upadhya, and have performed in both India and the United States. For the past five years, I have been freelance writing for a variety of publications, including Deccan Herald Bangalore, RAVE Magazine, and JetLite travel magazine. I have specialized in music writing, although I have covered a wide range of topics ranging from contemporary art to business to copywriting. I have also completed a manuscript on the Hindustani stalwart Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, currently pending publication. I received my BA at Columbia University, New York, in Economics-Philosophy and Creative Writing. My work experience includes two years at the prestigious Carnegie Hall, New York, where I coordinated their Professional Training Workshops. This blog is a collection of various samples of my published writing. For more information, please contact me at priya381@gmail.com. |
