| Introduction | Barbara Goodsitt is a contemporary realist artist based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Born in Chicago and raised in Milwaukee, she has lived throughout the Midwest, as well as in Massachusetts and Washington State. Her diverse experiences across regions have contributed to the breadth and sensitivity of her artistic perspective. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Early in her career, Barbara worked as a graphic artist specializing in medical illustration at the University of Wisconsin. She later transitioned into freelance work, building a diverse portfolio that includes clients in the medical, educational, business, and nonprofit sectors. Barbara’s artwork has been recognized by the U.S. State Department’s Art in Embassies program and she has exhibited several pieces at the U.S. Embassy in Montenegro. In addition to her studio practice, she teaches Drawing in Color classes in Southeast Michigan, where she shares her knowledge and passion for art with adult learners.
