IntroductionI am an author of six full length novels, plus a number of smaller novellas, short stories and cartoon features, as well as some nonfiction. To see them, either look at my website, or else Google "Robby Charters" (apparently, no one else uses that name on the internet). I live with my wife and my son in Northern Ireland. All three of us were born in Thailand, my wife of Thai Chinese parents, I of an Irish father and American mother, my son of – go do the maths yourself. My mother was also born in Thailand. I got most of my education and my horrible accent in America, and I departed for the last time in 1985. I was a missionary in Thailand during a lot of the time since, where I met my wife. She was also a missionary, with YWAM. We've been in N.Ireland since 2003, where I've worked at day jobs. I'm now retired. My son has finished Uni, and works for the same company I just retired from. For my full story, read my "very long bio" on my website (warning: very long).
InterestsWriting, drawing, making music
Favorite moviesAll time favourits: the LOTR series, and The Mission. A few I've watched recently and liked very much: Hugo, as it reminds me of Pepe. Also, AI, The Boy in Striped Pajamas, the Italian version of Pinnochio. Interestingly enough, none of my top favourites are Science Fiction, in spite of me being a SF writer.
Favorite musicClassical, Irish, inovative, and rock and role. My favourite composer would be Tchaikovsky followed by Mendlesson, but I've been listening to Saint Saens recently. For Irish, I like the Chieftons, Bill Whelan and Hevia.
Favorite booksTokien's books (all of them), C.S.Lewis's books including the Narnia Series, Paralandra series, Till We Have Faces, and his non fiction, like Surprised by Joy, Mere Christianity etc... More recent ones I've enjoyed are books by Adrian Tchaikovsky, Cory Doctorow, P. Somtow, and a couple of Stephen King's novels. Just a word about P. Somtow, who's my FB friend. He's both a SF writer and a Maistro, having written a few Operas, and is said to have put Thailand on the Classical Music map. For non fiction, I've recently been reading Frank Viola
