Introduction	AOII is the creation of four brilliant young women: Stella George Stern Perry, Jessie Wallace Hughan, Elizabeth Heywood Wyman, and Helen St. Clair Mullan. Founded in 1987 at Barnard College, part of Columbia University in New York City, AOII Chapters can be found across the United States and Canada. There are currently 175 chartered collegiate chapters and over 220 alumnae chapters. Overall, the membership of AOII exceeds 110,000 women.
