Introduction Life was going relatively smoothly until 13 May 2011. This was when our son was born – nine weeks too early. He weighed in at 1.59kg and was 44cm long. What ensued was a four month hospital journey. At one month old, we were informed he had suffered brain damage, which would affect his movement and control and the development of these. At 10 months old, we were informed he has cortical vision impairment and only time will tell the extent to which he can and can’t see. At 12 months old, we received a general Cerebral Palsy diagnosis. At 13 months old he was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma – a form of liver cancer requiring Chemotherapy and Surgical intervention, lasting up to six months. Throughout the cancer diagnosis, we discovered that after months of trying, we had successfully fallen pregnant again. This one is due late January 2013. When people ask us what we hope for, we respond with ‘term’. We have been faced with many challenges along the way, but have fantastic family and friends who have stood by and supported us throughout it all. And most importantly, one handsome and determined little man who shows us every day that we are never to give up.
