Introduction	I am an American college student thinking about aliyah. It started as an intellectual curiosity that can probably be traced to the Hebrew lessons I took in a Jewish day school. I developed my curiosity informally these past two years, reading blogs and doing Google searches. I found more religious reasons than I expected; among the few secular blogs I had skimmed, I did not find what I was looking for — the cultural reasons (where I did find them, they weren't the main reason for the move). I thought about moving to Israel for the language — for Hebrew. To that end, these are my musings about making a secular aliyah for the sake of the culture and the language. I did go to a Jewish day school, but I am not religious myself. I hope to use this to express my thoughts and also to connect with other people who are considering or have already made aliyah.
