Carl Nichols
Introduction | Chief Meteorologist Carl Nichols, the Miami Valley's most experienced weather expert, has been forecasting local weather for over 26 years of his 39 years as a meteorologist. Carl heads up Storm Team 2's weather coverage on 2News at 5:30 and 6pm. Carl came to WDTN-TV in November, 1977 from WYTV in Youngstown, Ohio where he was chief meteorologist. Prior to that, he worked for the Central Weather Service in Chicago. He has also worked as chief meteorologist at WLKY TV in Louisville, Kentucky. He began his career at WTVT TV in Tampa, Florida. Nichols, who was born in Tampa, Florida, graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Navy School of Meteorology at Lake Hurst, New Jersey. In 1999, Carl Nichols received the Board of Governor's Award from the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences, which is its highest honor for lifetime achievement. The Ohio Associated Press Board also awarded Nichols the special honor of "Best Regularly Scheduled Weathercaster," an award he won again in 2002 and 2004. |
