| Introduction | I was born on May 4, 2010 at Tufts in Boston, MA. I was born with Heterotaxy Syndrome and several heart defects to include an ASD, VSD, CAVC defect, TAPVR, Interrupted IVC, Dextrocardia. My stomach is on the right side and my liver is midline. On 5/5/10 I was transferred to Children's Hospital Boston where I spent the next 8 months. I had my first heart surgery at 8 days old and my first open heart surgery when I was 6 weeks old and two weeks after that I had my second open heart surgery to repair my mitral valve and have a pacemaker implanted. I had a very difficult time coming off of the ventilator so in Oct. 2010 I had a tracheostomy and in Dec. 2010 I had g tube. I was finally able to come home on 1/4/11. My trach was removed in Aug. 2011. I have several developmental delays but I am making progress every day. I still have a few outstanding medical issues. I have a small VSD and I still have some mild regurgitation on my mitral valve and my intestines are malrotated. My journey is far from over but I have come so far and I will never give up! |
