| Introduction | It seemed only appropriate to base a blog on ambling aimlessly across the country in a quote proffered by a real-life hero of this tradition. There are many legends surrounding Doc Holliday, but the one I like the most is a theory I read about what made him such a legendary shot. The theory maintained that Doc's failing health led him to grow so comfortable with his impending death (for health reasons) that he began to welcome it with open arms- thereby releasing him of all fear whenever he stared down the barrel of an enemy's gun. He was virtually unshakable, and possessed of little to no fear- which made him almost superhuman. Imagine. A life where we feared nothing; where we accepted our own mortality so much so that we truly could live in the moment and not fear a bullet pointed at us from twelve feet away. If there's any single aspiration in the world, I can think of none I'm more willing to grow towards than a life of fearing absolutely nothing. |
