| Introduction | Jacob of Mabbug is a name made up by combining the euphonious names of two monophysite theologians of late antiquity, Philoxenus of Mabbug and Jacob of Sarugh, found by me in the title of a learned tome by a patristics professor of mine, Roberta Chesnut (now Bondi)33 years ago. I'm a pastor of a mainline congregation surrounded by well-intentioned Churches of Christ, many of whom are somewhat suspicious of my outlander ways. |
