| Introduction | I like: Writing in Arabic, reading "The Economist" on airplanes, good films, cutting other people's hair, the smell of peat, dinners with my family and guests, peeling the dead skin off the bottom of my feet, jokes that take over seven minutes to tell. I don't like: Talking to people I don't know on airplanes, the song "that's the way uh huh uh huh I like it," the sound of people eating between in the silence between trailers in the cinema, dirty dish rags that stink up the sink, lactose. |
