| Introduction | Daniel Francis, editor of the Encyclopedia of British Columbia, is the author of numerous books on Canadian history, most recently Seeing Reds: The Red Scare of 1918-1919, Canada's First War on Terror. His biography of Vancouver mayor L.D. Taylor won the 2004 City of Vancouver Book Award. He was a contributor to the Canadian Encyclopedia and a contributing editor to the Junior Encyclopedia of Canada. He is a regular columnist for Geist Magazine and also blogs on Canadian history at www.historywire.ca. |
