| Introduction | 'Pirate Admiral' or 'Pirate' was what Kanhoji Angre - the first Admiral of the underestimated Maratha Navy by the British/ Royal Navy and the British East India Company in the latter 17th century. Meticulous and courageous though he was; 'Sarkhel'/Darya Sarang (Naval Chief)was very unorthodox in his methods. His methods foxed the European navies, endeared him to his sailors and why; even brought Dutchmen into his fleet who fought as gunners! Unorthodox, unexpected, exciting and steadfast is what I endeavour this blog to be. This is a pro-Hindu/ Indian blog. Those seeking convenient viewpoints; ‘ this is a Politically Incorrect Blog’. To the most under-reported military heroes of Medieval India, my thoughts here commemorate your spirit!! Jai Bhavani! |
